Event offers numerous attractions for professionals and public, from wine tasting to free corkage fee at participant restaurants

From October 17 to 23, Rio de Janeiro welcomes another edition of Rio Wine and Food Festival (RWFF), one of the biggest wine events in Latin America. Pioneer in Brazil and already integrated to Rio’s official calendar, RWFF is in its fourth edition, aiming to bring the world of wine to the general public and demystify the theme. The festival’s calendar includes several events, beginning with a gala dinner at the most famous hotel in the country, the Copacabana Palace, and ending in one of the social work activities of the event: a charity fundraising auction.

With events that embrace the entire city, the RWFF have actions aimed to the trade and final consumer, with interests ranging from restaurants and luxury hotels to local pacified communities – with training and wine tasting, called Well Comunidade Drink (Well Community Drink) – besides popular markets, like CADEG. The festival will also take the opportunity to discuss the sector. For this, the Vinho & Mercado (Wine & Market) Seminar will be held at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV).

The festival will hold several actions that will take place simultaneously, such as wine fairs with stands; the Wine Out, a wine tasting and promotional sale;  promotions in wine stores; themed dinners with tastings and lectures; labels and bottle design contest; education and training for beginners, waiters and sommeliers; presence at beaches and touristic points; and the Wine Bus, a bus ride that passes by the main sights of the city with wine tasting for locals and tourists.

The week-long festival also includes several restaurants offering zero corkage fee to encourage wine consumption and tastings. Some of the best restaurants in town will participate, like Mr. Lam, Alloro, Cipriani, Bottega del Vino, Unico and Gero.

The festival is organized by Baco Multimidia.

The Feira Show de Vinhos (Wine Show Fair) takes place in October 20, from 2pm to 8pm, as one of the main attractions of Rio Wine and Food Festival. The event takes place at Clube Piraquê, an unusual (yet interesting) location for wine events. The place portrays the beauty of the city, next to Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas and overlooking Cristo Redentor (the Christ the Redeemer statue). With a strong presence of national and international wine producers looking for retailers and supermarkets, the event will be held along with a master class on Greek wines, to provide an opportunity for the audience to learn more about the wines from this country. Tickets are available at a range from R$ 80,00 to R$ 120,00 at

Before that, on October 19, an exclusive fair presents producers of the famous Colchagua valley, in Chile, at the Copacabana Palace, from 3pm to 7 pm. The event is organized by Viñas Colchagua. Twelve of the best wines from the region will be available at the event.

Seminar at FGV

The Vinho & Mercado (Wine & Market) seminar happens on October 18 at the brand new cultural center of Fundação Getulio Vargas, a building projected by architect Oscar Niemeyer. The event will discuss the market with top names in the industry, in marketing and sales disciplines, e-commerce, taxation, national production, import, research and many cases. Registration is free.
